You know what, I feel an excerpt coming on. A brilliant, fabulous, glittered boa wearing excerpt about to burst forth from my very soul.
Are you ready?
From my contemporary fiction novel, This is Now.
I plan on spending the next week pretending as if I'm ignoring it while it simmers, untouched, on my Google Drive, fluffing it's feather boa and adjusting the spotlight for it's debut. And then I'm going to sit down, read it, and cry. Because the boa is going to be full of dust and bugs and gaping holes that desperately need more feathers. Feathers that are carefully threaded on instead of jammed on with a half cup of hot glue, which, if we're being honest, is what I'm going to be tempted to do.
And since you're bouncing on the edge of your seat (or the toilet; hey, I don't judge what you do with your smart phone), here is a picture from a "secret" board on my Pinterest account that I use to compile both research and photos that inspire me for This is Now.
If I owned those shoes, I would make the effort to learn how to walk in heels. Not only would I learn how to walk in them, I would strut.
Which is what I was doing around the house after I finally typed those two, sweet words.
