We just spent a glorious two weeks in Memphis visiting family and, you know, doing things. The whole "doing things" bit might not seem as if it would be that much of a big deal but my husband and I couldn't run out of the door fast enough as our two kids played happily with grandparents. It. Was. Wonderful. Including the moment when I realized the car seats were empty and turned to my husband in a panic to ask, "We left the kids with your mom, didn't we?" After much reassurance that we hadn't simply forgotten them somewhere we enjoyed the rest of our outing including a much-needed visit to Barnes and Noble that did not include the train table in the children's section.
While I had crossed the 50,000 word line at the end of November I hadn't yet finished my novel. Instead of taking a break I decided to continue writing, just at a slower pace. I had a quick spurt left to finish, but we ended up heading back home three days earlier than planned and my novel now sits unceremoniously unfinished.
If the ear-ache ridden toddler and furiously teething baby allow I'll be tidying up my writing space tomorrow and finishing my novel in the upcoming week.
I hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas and holiday!
Glad you had such a great Christmas! Happy New Year, Caitlin!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you, too!
DeleteI complain about having a hard time writing now, but I have a feeling parenthood is a whole other story. ;) It's good you had fun, though. Happy 2013!
ReplyDeleteLots of people write under all sorts of circumstances. I'm sure that in many aspects some situations are more difficult than others, but overall each writer has their own time constraints to overcome. Happy 2013, too!
DeleteBest of luck! I hope 2013 brings you lots of success!
ReplyDeleteThanks! You as well!
